Haven't been on this site in awhile, and my brother's 302->351 swap got me started thinking...
Where do I want to go with my new toy... an 86 Mustang GT
This is the cleanest car I've owned so far... and the Most well documented... Having every reciept, including EVERYTHING from the dealer, the first owner traded in an 84 mustang for it! I am the third owner. Mileage is going to be my secret though, until mike spoils it lol..
31 spline auburn diff
Heavyduty Rear sway bar, and upper and lower control arms
Koni shocks all the way around (currently on wait for my new front struts...)
Engine rebuild about 20k ago...
but stock heads (ported)
and mild replacement cam..
and I'm sure other things I can't think of...
Previous owners took great care of it sparing no expense.
Now I have to figure out where to go from here...
Understanding there were about 40k GT's made in 86, I understand this will not necessarily be a collectable, I'm not sure how stock I want to stay... Ideas range from 427SOHC to just a 347 , maybe be leaving it the 302 if I feel not to molest it... But that won't be for a few years....
I'm loving it so far, but needs a few small things.
^^^Don't mind my other brother being special in the background^^^
If someone has an idea on value of these rims I am definetly curious... Practically mint.
Great update, was driving the car the other day home from going to the movies, car in front of me slammed on their brakes, I ended up dumping my car into 2nd gear at a retardedly high RPM and now I have a fantastic ticking/knocking...
Here's a clip... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynHJg...ature=youtu.be
Whenever I get a chance I will be digging into the motor...
Only thing I've got so far is oil smelling insanely like gas.
All I have left is bolts holding motor to bellhousing, two ground wires, and the motor mounts. Hopefully engine will be out later this weekend and I will have a good chance to check it out and figure out what my route will be...
Funny thing is the only part of this car that really needed a good cleaning and elbow grease was the engine bay... So now I do have a reason to pull it...
Hopefully I'll get a decent motor with some work already into it or something along those lines so it's a little quicker than how it started
Depending on funds, somebody on here has an aluminum headed 302 I have my eyes on. But that all depends on how bad my motor is, and if my other crap-o-laa sells
Usuaully have trouble trusting anyone on craigslist for a whole motor that they say 'runs great' with no proof or anything ya kno?
Didn't realize you started a thread here.
I wonder if anyone can guess the mileage on this car by looking at the pics and vids?
Really want to know whats going on with it, i think the engine builder was incompetent, and the P/O babied it so much that it never brought a possible issue to light.

Motor pulled, motor apart, contemplating possibillities... Thinking heads, and cam...

Pulled the motor, cleaning it all up and getting some work done...
Not sure if these numbers on the piston mean its bored .030 over?
Aluminum Edelbrock performer heads, 1.6 SVO rockers, staying with the stock replacement cam, and edelbrock performer upper and lower. Plenty of new gaskets... Hopefully stop piddling oil...
