5.0 Tune up Help

I have a 91 Convertible

Just added Motorcraft platnium plugs gaped to .054 and the red 9mm plug wires, new Cap and Rotor.

The Car seems to be running allittle rough now. What should I check it was running better before I tuned it lol. The plugs I took out and Cap def needed to be changed and there were all Autolite and looked done..

Well .054 seems like a good number...did you do anything else like fuel or air filter?

Did the Fuel filter last week along with a new Pump..

Could The timing be off? I maybe I mis-wired the plugs?

What is the correct Firing order?

You would DEFINITELY know it if you screwed up the wires..how bad is it running? Firing order is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8.

yes thats what I needed lol , I will check that tomorow morning lol..


I was idling rough and felt like it didnt have as much power,, It was really late and Dark so I didnt want to drive it till the am until I could double check everything in the light.

for some reason i thought plug gap was supposed to be .52, am i wrong? I would check your owners manual or a chiltins or haynes book to be sure.

Thanks for the Firing order Pic ! I had # 3 and #4 switched.. It's running great now.

.054 seems to be what everyone says online is that correct? I don't want to redo itlol.. It seems to be running a hell of a lot better now.


Next question how do I find and remove the PCV valve?

its right in the back of the lower intake and you just pull it out. No tools needed.

You can also try to clean your MAF if it is running rough. The correct stock gap is .054
