Quick thought, you could always clean the area where the nipple broke off, make it as flush as possible, then epoxy a threaded brass nipple into the hole. Just sayin'

Sounds like a pully to me. Take the belt off and run it to check for the noise. If no noise, its a pully. Idler typically goes bad first so start there. Check for resistance and noise.

Whoops... I assumed, I get into more trouble that way...:o Rob, describe what it is you are hearing. Is the sound coming from the engine or further back? If its in the engine area, check your pullys. I work on 4.6s all day and when one comes in squeeling, its usually the idler or tensioner pully.

Throwout bearing going south perhaps? Im not familiar with newer standard trannys but my old ass Bronco is a stick and thats what I would look at given your description.

Checking in from the home of Uncle Sam. I bought my 83 24 years ago but the finances were never really there to do much with her. She has 146,000 on the clock and gets driven as much as possible, which sadly isn't all that much living up here.
