I had an 84 GT with the 5.0 automatic, and early fuel inj. Throttle body type carb, and had a similar problem. The EGR valve was all plugged up, pulled it off,cleaned it out, made sure it was working, and the problem was cleared.Its was an inexpensive fix.

Thanks to everyone for their help. Had the ignition module tested and that was OK, put in a new distributor and it's running fine! Now I'm back to enjoying this great top down Adirondack weather.:stang5:

Thanks, I think I'll try the distributor first, thought it might be the central control relay module, but the fuel pump runs when you turn the key on. That mod will be next. My battery is new, and nothing on the car has ever been touched, I just took out the original plugs a few weeks ago.
