Do brakes yourself for sure. Not too difficult in warm weather. I replaced both the pads and rotors on my 2007 Civic Si about 6 months ago and it only cost me $300 for StopTech OE rotors and Hawk HPS Street pads. Granted they were smaller than those in the Mustang but it increased my braking...

I've looked into this before and pretty much anything not stock with headlights or taillights is illegal in NY. This time around I'm doing tint on my Mustang that's 100% legal. Only doing the rear window. :) Good luck to the OP though. My roommate got pulled over the first week he had tinted...
