First choice should be the one to use. The only thing is you need the jack to be able to roll toward the front end as it rises. The front end is harder to lift because you would need to raise one side at a time or use two jacks. The differential will be the center point in the rear and then you can position the jack stands so they are out of your way.

I always just used the crossmemeber to jack the entire front end up, but it seems the consensus is just to use the rear diff and then support it with jackstands elsewhere. Thanks.
