For the meth, that makes great sense. I think an intercooler is best

Sorry for the above 5 repeat posts. I don't know what happened. You have to ask realspeed as they are the professionals, but I think an intercooler would be more preferred, and probably the same overall cost as the meth kit. Treadstone makes an awesome intercooler, about $300.

well they said it would cost more to relocate my battery an what not :( ..... are you running with a intercooled?

Intercooler is less of a hassle. Move the battery to the trunk yourself yourself. It's not difficult.

Either way the performance gain will be sweet.

well we will see what happens big things are going to go on for me and my beast this summer... i wanted to see what kevin was running since hes supercharged

I am intercooled. I got a killer deal on a used Procharger 3 core intercooler. I wouldve gotten a Treadstone, if i knew about them beforehand. Either way, it was ALOT of time and patience to fabricate everything up. I didnt have to move my battery. Ive heard good things about meth. But im not really educated on it. I believe you can set it to spray all the time or when you reach a certain rpm

Have you considered a kenne bell or a whipple roots style supercharger vs a vortech centrifical ? Also as before, i got a good deal on a brand new rebuilt vortech. If i would ve started brand new, i wouldve went root style. Just something to consider.

thanks for your thoughts kev.. i think its all about the money to be honest... the root style was going to be more money as well... im just going to have to baby it till i rebuild my bottom end which im going to next year...well see whats up were going to have to meet for some shows so make sure you keep me posted when your going to be out

How many miles on the car? I believe the stock block is good for 400hp; the tranny maybe a little more. What are there pros and cons of roots-style vs. centrifugal?
M
myslow04gt
root blowers and twin screw make great low end power, centrifugal make more top end power,a centrifugal has to spool to make boost ... ive heard you can make more power with the centrifugal... and im pretty sure there isnt much modifying whats pre existing for the centrifugal as you would for the root.. correct me if im wrong, i apologize in advance

I think you are correct on all of it. The centrical lets you keep your intake manifold and some of your CAI. One of the guys at All-American Mustangs just installed a procharger unit on his 2013 (or '14). Sweet installation. Went from 420 to 630 hp at the crank.

yeah i wont be making those numbers but ill be forsure happy

Hello everyone! I am going to give my opinion on this particular topic.

Supercharging your car can be done with a number of different companys/brands and every system has its pros and cons.

When i talk to someone about supercharging their car the very first question I ask is what do you like to do with your car. My reason behind that question is to immediately determine what direction to go. This direction includes the following (Stock motor or built motor, twin screw or centrifugal, top end kit or stock top end, high rpm power or more midrange) there is even more information going into my thoughts as i recommend a supercharger to someone but this is supposed to be brief.

As far as meth or an intercooler is concerned it has as much to do with budget as it does with power goals.

To be clear there are 2 diffrent types of intercoolers Water to air and Air to Air. both of these require a decent amount of work to be installed properly. Water to Air requires a whole separate cooling system including a water reservoir, a pump and an intercooler. Air to air requires large pipes to be ran to a front or bottom mounted intercooler with is generally quite large in size. You can ask Kevin how involved it is to properly route these pipes.

Water/Meth kits allow you to cool the air entering the engine for lack of a better word "Chemicaly". It also requires a whole separate system to installed in the car but it only requires a little hose to be installed in the engine bay. but it also has the effect of adding more octane to the current fuel you are running in the car, so its no longer only 93 oct.

I am sorry for ranting for so long but every single person/car will have its own way of finding their way to make horsepower. If anyone has more questions they can call me at the shop or shoot me an email/pm. We do get busy so if you get the voicemail just leave me a message i will get back to you.

Matt, that was very very informative. Thanks for the thorough explanation.

Would it be possible for you to write a post on the Meth set up. Brands, stages, and how to set it up. Ie. Ive heard different places to put the nozzle. That would be extremely informative.
