The 2 cars that I have I insured through Hagerty so i don't do anything. When I had insurance with State Farm, I took off the liability and just kept Fire and theft. If you take all the insurance off which you don't want to do with your car, you would have to hand in your vanity plates. If you want to do a quick spin on a nice sunny day then you need to leave everything on.

A guy I work with has an '07 Shelby, and he said when he talked to the DMV, they told him that he had to turn his plates in when taking it off the road, but for custom plates, they will hold them. I will have to look into this, bc obviously I want to keep them!

You need to keep some sort of insurance on it. Most home insurance policy's don't cover running cars.
