I have a couple 351's to choose from. I'm thinking you don't have the patience for a mod swap...you never keep a car too long lol...It's a lot of work, but if you really want a modular fox, buy one of mine already done.

Any reason to go with a 351 or mod motor, besides to do something a little different? Doing either one will run you more money and time then building up the current 302, imo.

4eyedcoupe did it take a lot work I assume?

And Josh, it's for power reasons. The stock 302 block won't handle the eventual power level plans I have in store. So a 351 would be cheaper in the long run, especially since a 302 R or boss block or even a dart block would cost more than the 351 swap. This 302 is great as the car only has 52,xxx original miles. Only a 2 owner car and never seen rain or snow. So the body is flawless. And motor sound great besides needing a new belt and P/S pump.

Love the fox!! I graduated HS in 90 so these cars were the envy of anyone that had one! Keep this one!!

It is a lot of work, but not terribly bad. Wiring is the worst part in IMO. I would definatly suggest haveing a complete donor vehicle. But the reward was well worth it. I will never put another 302 or 351 in a fox...But I will never go up to any of the newer body styles either....So just know if you're a fox lover like me, your gonna be stuck for life.

I guess it really depends on how far you want to go with it. For a 5.0 swap you would need the engine the control pack a transmission to put behind it run a return style fuel system and a power steering kit if you wanted to keep a/c in the car. I would do a 5.0 swap if I was ever thinking of going modular unless you could find a GT500 motor laying around somewhere with all the electronics.

That's true 4eyedcoupe. I love both along with Camaros though lol. But still love the 351 as well as the modular motor. And Shawn I can't afford the Coyote so it'd be cheaper to get a 4V Cobra/ LSC motor or a 351. I just know the 302 block is far to weak to handle my future power plans. And it'd cost almost as much if not more to build the 302 vs finding a 351 motor.

If you want to keep it simple, than the 351 is the way to go...You don't need swap parts other than headers, and you will need a hood to clear the intake. Both most likely parts you would buy anyway. However, with that said, to match the power the mod motor in stock form would put down in a fox, you will spend a lot of $. And after a 2v and a 4v swap, I would definatly choose the 2v. You should start a thread...I have way too much to say about this topic

My current swap project is a motor that would make more power with stock parts than any of the above mentioned....And you can find it just as cheap as a 302/351 and way cheaper than a mod motor. It's right up your alley, Tim.

What setup is that bud? We can start a thread, that'll be a good topic too. Especially since lot's of fox guys do swaps.

I would do a 351 all day every day over the 302 for the same reasons that you mentioned and over an LS motor. In regards to the 2V vs. 4V swap I choose the 3V over the 4V Cobra because all of the 4V cobra motors I see are going for a premium while the 3Vs are still in the decent price range for a long block. Plus the 3V's IMO have just as good potential as a 4V Cobra or Mach 1 engine and the aftermarket for the 3V is HUGE! A lot of guys will be dumping their cars as the prices for 5.0's come down and with the 2015s hit dealer lots so they will be demodding their cars and you should be able to pick up some nice parts fairly cheap. As far as the 3V over 2V, well that is a no brainer there. The 3V is just a better motor than the 2V plus either MM&FF or 5.0 did a 3V swap into a fox and pretty much detailed everything out that you would need to do so you have a quasi step by step guide to help you along with it.
