onlycoderedJust talked with Vanstrom and he said he could have it done same-day so that's good. It suck putting extra unnecessary miles on without the calibration on the way back home though. Going to have the dealership recalibrate.
redlawyersCan Vanstrom do a tune? Just the gears...?
onlycoderedI'd rather have an official Ford dealership tune/re-calibrate. That way I'm not voiding my warranty on the engine with an aftermarket tune.
2001stangNew Era is a decent place in rochester. They did my buddies full exhaust on a mustang and they just installed a supercharger on a corvette i know of. So an all around performance shop
AdirondackFox08What kind of calibration and tune is needed for the gears? I don't know too much about what is needed now with the new cars.
onlycoderedI'm pretty sure it's just the re-calibration for the different gear ratio so the speedometer is correct but from what I've read dealerships only have calibrations available for rear end gears that are available stock on the cars. If I wanted to go with something like 3.73 then I'd need to get a tune/calibration from an aftermarket shop.
AdirondackFox08You should be fine getting the gears done and then getting the new calibration so the speedo is correct at Ford. Not sure what they charge or if they would do that for you though.
onlycoderedWell I've got quite a few friends at my Ford dealership so I'm sure I'll get it done one way or another. :D
Calypsoshouldnt you only need to purchase a new speedo gear and have it installed when you have the gears done.. that is all i needed but i am not sure on the newer cars... look on latemodels website and see what they offer.. a new speedo gear is only roughly 15 bucks
onlycoderedThey don't sell the speedo gears yet for the 2011+ unfortunately.
