I would also check with the department of motor vehicles. Years ago I found an abandoned '71, sitting in a field. I knocked on the doors of nearby homes but no one knew who's it was. Then, I went to motor vehicles and filled out an application to claim the vehicle as abandoned, paid a small fee...
