what should i do for 100% street driven suspension?

car has bbk lowering springs and cc plates when i bought it...other than that its stock stuff...want to upgrade it for better road handling and look/feel. plus all the stock rubber bushings are shot... what do you guys recommend i do? i wanted maximum motorsports road and track but its kind of expensive and i dont think i need all that for regular road use. also, would like to get rid of the bulky stock k-member if possible.

Replace the bushings with polyurethane ones, get thicker sway bars, a strut tower brace, and a tubular k member. That should get you off to a good start and improve handling quite a bit over tired old factory. What is your goal for the car?

yeah it has short bbk sfc that i want to swap out for full length. my goal is just a great handling, not too harsh riding street car. i also want to swap out the current lowering springs/shocks for something newer and nicer...and recommendations?...also any recommendations for a k-member? i want to retain stock track width etc...

depends on how harsh of a ride you want too. I know the H&R SS's are a favorite for handling and the look not sure on ride quality honestly. Ford C springs are good too from what i hear. As for k-members, alot of aftermarket ones are deisgned to be light first and strength second. Companies like maximum motorsports and griggs racing have engineered th k-member so its still lighter then stock by 20 something pounds but massively stiffer and better geometry then the brands like UPR. Just shop around, sometimes used pieces are found for low prices and you can scoop up good second hand springs or maybe even a k-member. Good luck man.:awesomework:

thanks for all the input...i will let you know about the bbk chassis bars...probably not going to be doing anything until spring...just getting my list going so i can see how much money i need to start budgeting...God, i said i would never spend as much money as i did on my last vehicle, and im way passed that already and have a long way still to go...its a sickness i think...lol...thanks again guys

Bilstein, Tokico, or the like are good shocks/struts. I think the steeda springs are suppose to ride decent. I had Eibach Sportlines and they had a nice ride actually.

Leave the front sway bar alone. Replacing all the bushings in the front will help. There are ALOT of FAQ's online with info on this.

agree, leave the stock sway bar alone, there's plenty of stiffness in there for a street handling car, just replace the bushings with urethane pieces.

1) always start with chassis stiffening, SFC, g-load brace, strut tower brace.
2) i run the FMS C-springs up front and stock GT springs in the rear with a relocated pickup point (same ride height as the complete C-spring setup).
3) For shocks, Koni reds or bilsteins. i just put the bilsteins HD's and love em.
4) get some lower rear control arms with stiffer bushings. i use the UPR pieces, decent price
5) leave the uppers control arms in and replace the bushings as needed.
6) caster camber plates and get an alignment done
this setup should get you a nice street setup. i would do it in the above order if not all at once.

what is a g-load brace? also how is the relocated pickup point achieved? was looking at h&r/bilstein combo (had that on my audi and loved it). what company should i use for the bushings? want to do it right the first time. thanks

G load brace goes underneath and braces the cross member rear of the engine either with 4 points or 2 points. Relocating the rear control arm pickup on the axle mount is achieved with mounting plates. Mine has a panhard rod integrated with it. In all honesty its just easier to use the cspring rears instead (same spring rate as the stock gt's)

Yes sorry aka kmember brace. I think all of them are pretty much the same, there's not much to it. I have the old kenny brown 4 pt version but its been sitting in my basement waiting to be modified since it no longer fits between the t56 tranny and th milodon oil pan blah!

Right. For a street handling suspension i'd use the stock uca. Replave the bushings if they're degraded. The 93 cobra came with a slightly stiffer rubber bushibg that is good as well.

Fms sells a stock uca with the upgraded chassis mount rubber bushing. The axle mount bushing can be replaced by rubber bushing as well, I think I got mine from max motorsports along with the tool to change them out
