well thats pushing your luck. That would be tough but i would say yes. serious compression and fuel is needed. H/C/I for sure and they would need to be a custom grind cam. I read about a mustang in a periodical that made a 1000hp n/a and i think it was a 5.0 nasty setup. motor may have been a little bigger.

it is doable, but not with a stock block. I am not so sure the stock block would handle the rpm's required to make that type of power n/a.
But why not go with more displacement? It would be easier on your parts and you wallet.

you can get close to that to the crank,but I dont see 500 to the wheels na with a 302/306. I read an article a while back with a stock 302 shortblock with afr 185s dynoed 450 to the crank. you never know with better flowing heads you might be able reach 500 to the crank.... but with the $ you would have to spend on parts your better off starting off 351 based

its easy to do if your wallet is big, I wouldnt with a stock block though and it wouldnt be very streetable. Id love to meet the guy that took a stock 302 and just bolted on a set of afr heads and got 450 hp from it, he should donate himself to racing science so we can study him Ive never heard of any motor getting 250 hp from heads.

306 stock block with a DSS main support a fogger and let it FLY!!! DSS claims to have made 650hp on a stock block with theyre main support. In all seriousness though, dont waste your time with the stock block. Girdled or not, its only going to take so much and its not worth the time of yanking it all back apart again. Start off with a good foundation. Dart block is def the way to go. My 363 with 13:1 ross pistons, Hbeam rods, forged crank, Ultradyne cam and TFS "R" heads ported to the hilt with kooks custom headers on MUSCLE is making 540 to the tire... so without a blower or a good hit on the bottle for a 306 to make that it would have to be something nutty!!

my chevy motor is built for dirt track racing dart block the head work is incredible, its 15-1 comp. alcohol motor I can turn it 8600rpms for about 40 races then has to be rebuilt. the power is incredible!
