I been thinking about making long tube headers and off road X pipe my next mod. Does anyone know how this would affect my ability to get the car through NYS inspection every year?
Anyone in the capitol region want to install them for me? lol
With a proper tune you'll be fine. I know a couple guys around here with 2011+ GT's and a guy with a 2013 GT500 that have O/R mid pypes. The GT500 has long tubes. Its mostly the tune as most shops don't look under the car.
You did just give me a great idea though. There is a very good local independent muffler shop down the road from my shop in Schenectady, Broadway Service. I may ask them if they can do it. They do custom exhaust systems and pipe bending, so it shouldn't be too tough for them.
Todd I know the owner. What's wrong with them? He has built some serious cars. He's no bullshitter like them idiots at Monroe or some of these other shit ball off the wall shops around here. His knowledge of cars is great. And he has some well knowledgeable staff too.
Well I meant as far as price and quality. They are good, but also made cheaper, which makes them more affordable. High end would be like Kooks, ARH, Bassani, Borla, etc.

imo..
i wouldnt really say the stainless bbk's are made cheaper .... and the others are high end, unless you equate price with being high end.
you might get a few more horsepower (maybe like 3-5) with the high end brands....but will also get fitment issues.
in the o5+ gt, you have to remove your long tubes with some other brands to drop the tranny.
the bbk ones fit right in and no need to drop the tranny and a few hundred less.
seems like a win / win to me.
I've never heard of fitment issues with ARH or Kooks. And I've known several who've had them. Pypes for instance are cheaper and their quality is poor in comparison to most, as well as poor fitment. I wasn't saying BBK are junk, they just aren't built as well as some of the others. Look at the bends and the welds. They def ain't on par with the ARH or Kooks.
