Hi,
Not knowing how your car runs currently,It's a guess. I can say that if the tube was missing from the choke housing to your manifold your choke would not pull or come off properly. So having that on would help the choke to release and keep your car from running rich due to the fact that the choke was staying on I've seen this a bunch. You've already ready replaced that.As far as the intake tube,You will not notice any change with or without it. So I'm assuming your car is a "D" code(289 4 bbl,210 hp. 64 1/2 only engine) with the correct stock Autolite 4100 4 bbl carb or an "F" code 260 v8 with the correct Autolite 2100 2bbl carb. If I assumed correctly this photo should help . This shows where the tube hooks to the manifold.
And this one shows where and how it hooks to your carburetors air horn (It is not the circled area,It is above it).
Hopefully these photos help, I was feeling lazy (It must be Monday) So I stole these images from the internet. If you need more advice or photos, etc. Let me know, Good luck.
