Ok so as a few of you know I recently had overheating issues in my cobra. The problem is all clear, but sense I discussed the issue in a separate thread I figured I would make a new thread solely dedicated to this issue and how to fix it.
So if you ever have issues overheating after you've changed something in your coolant system (or refilled it through the overflow tank when it was low)the overheating issue is most likely caused by an air pocket in the system, and these are the steps I took to fix the problem.
1. Disconnect the lower radiator hose on the driver side to drain the radiator, reconnect hose
2. with the cap off of the overflow tank refill the system from the xover tube (located on right side of supercharger, the plug is a 1/4 inch drive)
3. try to create an air tight lock with the funnel and the xover tube hole your filling through, and begin to fill the system
4. once the overflow tank is full start the car and turn the heat on full blast and run it for AT LEAST 20 minutes, as it will take some time to get all of the air out of the system
***NOTE*** several sources i came across stated to keep the caps off the system while the car is running OR to put the cap back on the overflow tank and leave funnel in the xover tube with excess coolant in it. As the system drains the air it will come out through the funnel, and the coolant in the funnel will drop into the system
5. Take the car for a NORMAL drive, no beating or excessicive speed. Drive about 5-10 mins, and if the car does not overheat your done!!!
**unfortunately if it does repeat the steps starting from 2, you shouldnt have to drain the system twice
Hope this helps you all from future headaches. Mike- possibly sticky this?
