I'm working on my 92 which is still a 4cyl and upgrading the suspension and brakes for the eventual conversion. So far I replaced the 7.5 with a 8.8 with 3.73 gears, boxed lrs upper and lower rear control arms, rear sway bar from a 95 cobra (I also have the front one aswell) , KYB shocks and quads, and v8 springs. I have the front suspension mostly removed.
One of the front springs was broken. A friend of mine sold me a set of front springs which I think are v8 springs. I have a internal spring compressor but I would have to compress it to what I think is a dangerous amount for hand tools.
My question(s) is that would it be easier to get the original 4cyl springs (which are hard to find new), or try and put the v8 springs in? Since the 4cyl will be in it untill I get everything for the engine will the cars nose sit up way too high?
I also though about lowering the car, which I would assume would be a shorter spring and easier to install, but I would have to install caster/camber plates, and I would have to disassemble the struts again because I assembled the new KYB strut and mount bushings and I know the strut nut is a pain to remove. Swapping the rear springs is easy so i'm not worried about that.
Lastly I noticed that LRS sells the rear disc brake conversion I was wondering if the braking performance would be improved over the factory drums, and worth the extra money? I don't care about the looks of 4-wheel disc brakes and I'm running the stock pony wheels anyways.
Sorry about the long post but I'm just at a crossroads and i'm just looking for some advice, and couldn't think of a shorter way of explaining it.
Thanks in advance for any help
