I traded in my1999 3.8 for the 2007 4.0 Pony. I got a $5,000 trade in for it- way above book value. The car at the Ford dealership wanted $14,999 for it. Now I am paying $9,999 at $310 a month. The Pony only has 22,000 and had only 2 female owners and no accidents. The car was originally a California car and has absolutely no rust.
The car has never touched salt or snow, and I plan on putting it away in warm storage for the winter in about 2 weeks.
I have a 3 year extended warrenty on the Pony by Ford. Not sure by adding the GT grill with fog lamps, CAI, 4.10 gear, 93 octane, dual exhaust will hurt the warrenty. I will look into that.
I am a little sad to see my 1999 go. I love that Pony. But wow... Ford has really advanced the Mustang since 1999. It would have cost me $18,000 to have my 1999 fully restored. When I saw the Generation 5 sitting there, my wife co-signed and told me to get it. At least now, I don't need to think about restoral. All I need to do now is just upgrade, and have a better looking Pony with that nostalgic look that the Generation 5 provides.
