Last monday I was just cruising to a stop light and had a spark plug blow out. Blew up the ignition coil and stripped the threads in the head as far as I could tell.

Has anyone on here fixed this with a time sert kit? If so do you still have it? My regular mechanic has the snap on blue point FRT10 kit http://image.snapon.com/international/pdf/frt10.pdf, but unfortunately I cannot find any aluminum inserts for that kit.

I don't understand why ford only put 4 threads in these heads .

I don't know about aluminum inserts but this is a common problem with the 5.4l's. They use steel insterts for the repair. You might have better luck trying to use one of those. NAPA sells them if I recall.
