The way my notice reads, it appears as though the dealerships have the new airbags in their possession, and are replacing them on a first call first serve basis. The gentleman at the service desk that I spoke to, indicated that they have done several of these already over the past two weeks. Even if they don't have them in stock, it only takes two to three days for them to be shipped in. Which is why it is important to call ahead and schedule an appointment, and not just rolling in and expecting them to deficate out an airbag for your convenience.

This may be going on to speed up the refit of the cars . If your VIN was checked and it is the NEW "UPDATED" unit, then you are good to go. The air bag allotment is still VIN # allocated, even though. A bag is assigned to your vehicle. The second letter confirms this to schedule an appointment with your dealer. As was posted, second letters are now being received in large numbers. If you did not get yours yet, it was probably mailed to you already . Hence the dealer could assign the date for repair. This air bag mess keeps growing. More cars from another manufacturer were added these past two weeks. My new S550 has a Takata air bag in it as well. Ford is still using them as a vendor in the new gen 6. The FIX install does not take really long. The newer 13, 14's are scheduled later, except if you live in a hot climate state. 14's are being scheduled for the end of 2016 , for their FIX.
