Default Pondering the idea of selling the 65.

I am seriously considering putting my 65 up for sale.

Reasons to sell.

1. I have maybe 300 miles on it since the paint job. 3 years ago.
2. I have a 2 year old so rides in the stang are not an option at this point.
3. Not a safe car to drive.
4. It sits, lonely
5. New cars are easier/more fun to daily drive.

Reasons to keep.

1. It looks bad ass.
2. Bought it when I was 17 I'm 30 now.
3. Fun to drive because of all the attention it gets.

So, if in my shoes would you sell? Keep? I really don't think I'll regret it but who knows! Once it's gone it's gone.

I'd like to get $15-16,000 for it. I know the economy is horrible, and I don't know if I'd have trouble selling it.
I would also sell my 92 and buy a c5-6 Vette, 98+ WS6 or a 05+ Mustang

Here she is....

You're asking that question on the wrong forum, especially if it is to purchase a GM product. I'd stick with the 65, how many sweet coupes do you see rolling around versus how many C5 Vettes you see? Also, the Mustang has 4 seats where as the Vette is a 2 seater but maybe I'm a little biased here.

If I were you I'd sell the '92 before I sold a '65.

Another vote to keep it. That's a great American classic you have there!

Unless you need the cash, I think you should keep it. As you said, once its gone, it's gone.
Since you got it at 17 it is probably your first car? If so, more reason to keep it. I know I wish I had a way to find my first car (have no paper work to even try).
In a handful of years image the fun you and your child can have with the car; working on it, washing it, going to car shows & cruises.
Also, if you wait, the market should have turned around and the car should be worth more.
Like olnycodered said, sell the '92 before the '65.
Based on how you listed the pros and cons, its sounds like you are truly on the fence; which screams "do not sell".

In that case keep the wife, sell the kid.

They're easy to make. Fun to make too.

If money is not an issue, keep the '65. I still regret selling my '69 coupe and that was 18 yrs ago.

i'd listen to your wife! keep it!

but seriously, that car is gorgeous and like everyone already said, the cars you would by with the money are a dime a dozen, yours is unique!

i know you said new cars drive better but maybe you colud do a few thing to make it drive nicer and you'd enjoy it more?

my father has owned a 49 chevy pickup since i was about 4 years old, some of my best memories about my dad are linked to the truck in one way or another

hell, i remember when my feet didn't touch the floor when i sat in it!

hopefully your child will remember that too when he's/she's all grown!

good luck with your deceision!
