Not happy with Goodyear.

I just went to Goodyear Tire in Ithaca to get a front end alignment. The Tech called me back complaining of the surface rust and that he had to heat up the tie-down ends to dial out the front end. One of my tires had a flat spot on the passenger side, and I also had him replace and balance that tire. The so called Tech told me that my "A" Frame had been welded. When I got my girl from the shop I just noticed she is still pulling to the right just a tad... especially when I get up to speed.

I am going back tomorrow to recheck the alignment. My question is... What the heck is a "A" Frame?

A-arm, lower control arm, it's the part that the ball joint is pressed through and the spring sits in. I got a Moog replacement one from Summit racing for something like $85 earlier this year..

Thank you jricky917. You helped me a lot. I just ordered a Summit catologe. I should get it in a week or so. $85 is very reasonable. I plan on changing both of them as part of the restoration. This Forum Rocks!

can't beat it when they come with the new ball joints, it's a bargain.

If you have problems with the bolts coming out... cut them, then get some grade 8 5/8 diameter 5 1/2 inch long bolts, I had to chop one of mine off!

Sorry about that experience at Goodyear but it won't be your last bad experience in automotive learning! Most shops survive on the " uninformed "
