Default HID Problems

One day last week after getting home from working 19 hours I left my lights on . They were on for about 5 hours. I went out and turned them off everything was fine. The next day I got home and turned off the lights and they stayed on. I turned them off and on and they stay on. Sometimes they will go off but they they turn back on
So now I have to take the fuse out so the battery wont die.

Where do I begin o wise NYM buddies?

I don't know much about the internal workings of HIDs, but I would check:
1-realys (probably sticking)
2-headlight switch
3-Try replacing HID ballast (could be $$$ though)

$0.02

It has to be 1 of those things.. Try unplugging the HID ballast and see if it still does it with your regular lights..

There is no relay, it is a plug and play kit that just installs a ballast in between your regular harness then to the hid's. Sounds to me that the ballast took a crap from low voltage and fused the contacts.

I could be wrong. But I would remove the ballasts and install the factory lights and see if the problem remedies itself, if so, the ballast took a crap.

Good luck man.

Aren't most HID kits powered by the same source as the factory headlights??
I just thought that if the factory relay went bad it could act up like this, no?
I don't know man, wiring is not my strongest skill

There is a factory relay, but he said when he pulls the fuse they shut off, so that means that the relay is working since it is drawing constant power to feed the relay, hence the lights stay on without an ignition source.

The relay in some kits are used for high/low beam operation.

But I would remove the ballast and reinstall factory.

I like wiring, it makes me smile.

Good deal Bubba.

That brings up a question though. Why did the fuse holder fail?? Was it melted together or just a crappy holder, bad connection at the source.....

Could be an underlying problem that might need to be addressed.
