Started the header and X pipe install.
Car was on the jack stands for a while soaking the nuts and bolts for the disassembly most of which went fine (so far). Starting on the passenger side I pulled the battery and the battery box first then I loosened the clamps for the axle pipes and slid them back and then pulled the o2 sensors that I could reach. The H pipe came out next, 3 nuts for the flange came out easy but one was spun on and stripped. I had to be creative to get pressure on the nut and get it going over the threads still there. Next came out the starter. I then loosened the nuts on the manifold studs and removed all but two. I removed the engine mount nut on the passenger side and loosened the driver’s side until one thread still held it.
I jacked up the engine to give myself some room and removed the engine mount plate to get to that last manifold nut. Next I slid out the stock manifold and slid in the header. Lining up with the studs I started installing the nuts. I then reinstalled the engine mount plate and tighten up the nuts on the header. I reinstalled the starter and inspected the work and once everything looked ok I lowered the engine.
Personal note: I started the job at noon and by 3:30 I had to drop what I was doing and go get my daughter from work, she got sick. Then I had to stop and make dinner for my wife was at work…hotdogs and mac & cheese and got back to working on the car then the Sabres game was coming on so I had to quit.
I took some pictures and will post some after I am done.
Tomorrow I start on the driver’s side and hope to get it all finished.
