In the last year I have installed an Optima Yellow Top Battery, PAS 130a alternator, new serpentine belt, and new battery clamps.
The car is a weekend driver. Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed the battery light coming on intermittently while driving and the battery gauge slowly descending to near the red zone. This morning the engine cranked but would not turn over without help. The car started right up with a jump; the battery light stayed off and the battery gauge was at low normal.
I have checked the battery; 8v before jump/13.2v after jump.
The tension on the serpentine belt is good.
The battery clamps are tight and clean.
All battery cables are in good shape.
The alternator pulley moves freely (How do you test the alternator?)
What else should I be looking at?
