after market clutch cable

I have a 96 mustang 5 speed and I am having trouble with the factory auto adjust. It is fine for about 3 days of normal use and I have to reach back up and adjust it. I am done with it. What I want to know is what are my options. I want to know which aftermarket set up are the better ones that are affordable. Ease of installation and reliability. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what you mean by affordable, but I like the maximum motorsports clutch cable kit. The whole kit was 140 when I bought it in 2012. It comes with the adjustable cable, quadrant, and firewall adjuster. It has worked well for me and other people like it too. I would stay away from the 3 hook quadrants. It is much easier to adjust the clutch cable at the firewall adjuster than it is to adjust at the quadrant and at the fork. When adjusting it, the best way to find out if it is set up properly is to stop on a hill and shut the car off. Then push the clutch pedal down until the car starts to roll backwards. That point should be halfway or higher up on the pedal throw.

Thanks for the info where did you get it from and how was the installation was it fairly easy to work with. I am really not looking forward to spending a bunch of time under the dash. Mayne I can get the wife to do it since it is "her" car lol.

The install wasn't too bad. The worst part for me was to be upside down under the dash to do the work. Which, unfortunately, is most of the job. For some reason I felt sick to my stomach doing that and got to the point where I could only be under the dash for a few minutes. So I had to enlist my dad to help me with it. :)

The hardest part is probably trying to break the stock quadrant. You have to take a screwdriver and try to break the quadrant to get it out and get the cable off. Then it's just putting the new stuff in. And afterwards setting up the clutch cable for proper operation.

It probably took a couple of hours to put the new clutch cable kit in.

Thanks. Ya I will just do it. Should have seen the look I got when I asked her how long it would take her to changer the transmission when we first got it. I slept on the couch that night lol. It is her car but I am the one who has to fix it. How in the hell does that work, oh thats right marriage lol.
