I just added a SR CAI yesterday. It only took me a hour to get it all together. I extended the vacuum hose with a piece of 3/8" fuel injection hose- and a piece of the stock hose to make it fit with no tension or stress. I took out the stock plastic hose connector from the stock hose and refused it so I could slide the hose on the CAI pipe. It was hard to put on even when I used oil, spit and dish soap. I even tried sanding smooth the powder coat where the vacuum hose connected to the male end on the CAI pipe. And still I couldn't spread open the new 3/8" hose on it without splitting it. So I used the softer stock hose and connected it to the new hose - and then on to the valve cover. I lowered the part of the wiring harness where the air regulator sits. I made the clamps and everything neat. I red that some people had issues installing this CAI. Hope my pictures help show what I did and how I did it.
I did everything correctly the first time. No engine lights. Already hear and feel the slight HP improvement.
I also got a pair of SLP stainless steel Loud Mouth Catbacks. A friend of mine had them on his 96 5.0 and he didn't like them- because they were too loud. I asked him how much he wanted for them, and he only wanted $30. I gave him $35. They needed cleaning up... I used Acetone, Dawn dish soap and water using a S.O.S pad. Now my friend picks on me at the car club that he sold me the pipes for so cheap. Lol
Now I will need a Bama Tuner before I get the H-pipe adapter and Flowmaster or Mac Cats on it. Wish American Muscle would come down on the Bama Tune. $400 bucks for something I will only use once or twice. Nuts!
