Sicne you have a 4.6, you can use either the T45 or the T3650 but guys tend to favor the T45 because they are a little stronger, however to answer your question, 96-04 5 speeds should fit.

All of them mikey , won't come out of a gear and wont go In any , when you let the clutch out just grinds and make a bunch of noise

You need a T-45 from a '96, 97 or 98 GT for your '98 GT. The T-45 from a 96-98 Cobra could be made to fit, but the crossmember mount is farther back to clear different catalytic converters from the factory. Also, the cobra t-45 has a 7 tooth drive gear for the speedometer, the GT trans has an 8 tooth drive gear.

The TR3650 (mid 01-04) doesn't have the gear to drive the speedometer speed sensor. Also, the TR3650 has a 31 spline output shaft. I believe the T-45 has a 28 spline output.

I recommend finding a place that rebuilds them and ships them out. Apparently, the average transmission shop doesn't know much about these/ can't remember. There is a place in Florida that are gods on these but I can't remember the place. I'll work on it.

Also, could just be a shift fork in the transmission itself. Won't know till it's all apart but might only be a $100 fix if you do the work. Wish I did when mine went...
