Cool Re: 2018............Model year options & colors.

Ford Authority is claiming that the 2018 will get a new 4.8l dual fuel injected engine.According to Ford Authority, "the new Ford 4.8L V8 will provide a higher compression ratio, which in turn would help in generating a better horsepower. The current Ford GT with the coyote engine produces 435 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque. Rumors also suggest the new 4.8L V8 unit will be seen in the latest 2018 Ford Mustang GT and the 2018 Ford F-150. Both the vehicles will render a better and improved performance compared to the existing models and will be equipped with advanced technologies along with an updated exterior design." An unknown Road & Track source/ insider at Ford claims that this may not be the case at all. The 2010 S197 refresh held on to the 4.6l untill the 5.0 was brought back in 2011. They could do this to the refresh 2018 S550 , with the all new engine going into the Mustang GT in 2019. I hope this is not the case. Ford should match the new 10 speed automatic to the new 4.8l with the new suspension and exhaust upgrades for the 2018 model year. Many may dislike seeing the 5.0 leave if this is the case ,but this new engine will out perform the current engine used in the GT. The GM SS Camaro is rated at 455 HP currently. The new Ford engine will probably have a higher HP number than the current 6.2l engine used by GM. The upcoming Detroit auto show should answer all the questions about the refreshed 2018 Mustang line up ...............
