Yes it's for tuning. A carb may only need a little tuning but the nitrous system requires constant attention regarding nitrous/fuel ratio, air/fuel ratio, exhaust temp and timing. They all work had in hand to keep things safe. If I was only hitting a 100 shot it wouldn't be that bad but 400 to 600 can be pretty touchy!
